The issue here is that etherchannel doesn’t split up the packets for a single flow of traffic; it simply helps distribute multiple flows along multiple links. Hence, a single network-intensive operation probably won’t see any performance improvement, but the use of etherchannel can help prevent it from blocking other traffic.
